Frequently Asked Questions

Pucks Explained

What’s a puck?

A puck is one handy little portion of our meals shaped like a hockey puck, sized for real life.

Each one is about 100g and frozen into a tidy, stackable shape that makes it easy to store, heat, and serve. Heat one, two, or more — there are no rules! Just cook what you need, when you need it.

No wasted food. No sad fridge leftovers. Just flexible portions made for real life.

Each puck is microwavable in under 2 minutes and made to be cooked straight from frozen—though they still taste great if defrosted.

Are your pucks just for kids?

Not at all! While our pucks are family-friendly and easy for little eaters to enjoy, they’re great for all ages. They’re also portioned for flexibility:

  • One puck for a lighter meal or snack

  • Two (or more) for bigger appetites

  • Add a side or pair with something fresh—mix and match your way

It’s real food, portioned for real life.

Are they safe for toddlers or kids?

Yes with the usual care and common sense. Our meals are made with real, recognizable ingredients and no additives that can be served to young children as part of a balanced diet.

However, they’re not specifically formulated for infants under 12 months, and may contain textures or ingredients that require caution for younger eaters. Always check the temperature and texture before serving, and adjust the portion as needed.

Every child is different - you know best what works for yours. Our pucks make it easy to serve just the right amount and introduce new flavours at your own pace.

Will you be adding more meals or different portion sizes?

Yes, we’d love to! But we also want to get it right so we’re starting out small (literally) and focused.

We know families have different needs, so we’re already exploring new meals, flavours, and formats, including larger sizes and other family-friendly options.

If there’s an appetite for it, we’re in. We’re growing based on what you tell us—so if you’ve got ideas, let us know—we’re listening.

Our Kitchen

Who cooks the meals?

Adrian, he is a trained chef and founder. He makes every meal in a Fraser Health–certified kitchen. He has 10+ years in some top kitchens and is also Miles’ dad - so if we wouldn’t feed it to him, it doesn’t leave the kitchen.

Where do you cook the pucks?

We proudly prep all meals at Rotisserie Kitchen, a Fraser Health–certified commercial kitchen in Delta.

It’s a professional space that lets us batch-cook safely and consistently, just like home but on a slightly bigger scale.

Storage & Cooking

How should I store and cook a puck?

All pucks are made to be cooked straight from frozen for the best results. Heating instructions can be found each label. Just make sure the meal hits an internal temp of 165°F (74°C) for 2 minutes. Always test the centre of the meal for doneness.

For children or sensitive eaters:
Let the meal cool to a safe serving temperature before offering, and check for appropriate texture and size based on the child’s age.

Can I use an air fryer?

We haven’t tested it yet but let us know how it goes!

How long do pucks last in the freezer?

We recommend enjoying your pucks within 3 months for the best taste, texture, and nutrition — that’s our sweet spot.

But here’s the freezer truth:
Frozen food lasts indefinitely.
As long as your pucks stay frozen and haven’t thawed, they’ll remain safe to eat well beyond 3 months, even a year or more later. The flavour and texture might shift slightly over time, but the food will still be safe.

So no stress if you forget one in the back of the freezer - Batch Kitchen has your back when you need it most.

My pucks arrived a little soft—are they still safe?

Yes! If they’re still partially frozen, pop them back in the freezer. If fully defrosted, store in the fridge and eat within 48 hours. Do not refreeze.

Nutrition & Ingredients

Do you use preservatives?

Never. The freezer is our preservative. We use ingredients you'd find in your own kitchen—nothing weird.

Do you make allergen-free or gluten/dairy-free meals?

Not yet. We’re focused on making our core classics great first. Free-from options are on our radar for the future.

Please note our pucks are prepared in a commercial kitchen that handles nuts, dairy, gluten, soy, eggs, and other common allergens. While strict procedures are followed to minimize cross-contact, the puck may contain trace amounts of allergens.
